"I know it is complex and difficult to understand, but basically the reasons
are two: Some off brand lenses (I.e. third party lenses, which are designed
for a particular camera body but not made by the manufacturer of the body)
are as good or better than the comparable lenses offered by the original
manufacturer. Sometimes the lens will offer not quite as good performance or
lacks some specific feature, but adequate for the needs of the user. (I
realize that is a really subtle one. Write me offline if you can't grasp
it).

Now, there is another question: Why would anyone pay the brand name premium
for a lens when they can get one that is as good or better, or adequate for
their needs, at a substantial discount? These technical questions are so
taxing."

I couldn't say it better

Kind regards
