After years of macro photography with an FD system (a Canon AE1-P with a 50
and 100 mm macro lenses), I'm getting ready to make the transition to the
EOS. Yeah I know, if I wait a little longer I could skip film entirely and
go digital, but I figure that's still a few years away. What I'm wondering
is which would be a better combination, an EOS 3 with a Canon 100 mm, 2.8
USM, or an Elan 7 with a Tamron 90mm, 2.8? Cost is not the primary factor,
nor is battleship durability. What I need is sharp optics, and a camera
package that can be carried some distance from the car. One concern I have
is that the 100mm Canon may not balance the lightweight Elan 7 very well.
The Tamron, of course, is a much lighter lens.
