Solution, sell the tamron and buy canon-never have understood buying off
brand glass for a system.

It simple Wilbur, sometimes the 3rd party glass is better! Example, the
20-40mm Tamron runs circles around bothte 20-35mm F2.8 and 17-35mm Canon
lenses. Yes, the later has USM but for me its a so what. I don't need AF
speed for wide angle shots.
Secondly, until very recently the only 28-200mm in the game was the Tamron
and later Sigma then Canon. Pentax had one but it was a relabeled Tamron.
Also, the Tamron is sharper than the Canon macro and IMO so is the Sigma
105mm F2.8 EX Macro.
Yes, I occasionally have to put up with sending the lens back to Sigma when
Canon has a new body that is not compatible, but aside postage one way I
still save having saved hundreds using this lens v. the Canon.
BTW, if you really want to think about something Tamron glass is used in
Schneider (German) lenses, Sigma and Pentax use Hoya made glass as does some
Leica R lenses (35-70mm).
