Consider the Lowepro Nova 5, the largest of the lighterweight Nova series.
Plenty sturdy and well made, but lighter than the Pro series bags. I used the
earlier model for 5 years, and then bought the new model. Actually, I
preferred the older design; however, the new model has a replaceable shoulder
strap and loops for a waist belt, which takes a load off your shoulder. You
can buy the waist strap, more heavily padded pro shoulder strap from B&H. I
also use the optional shoulder harness, which will convert the bag into a
comfortable backpack carrying arrangement. However, unlike a backpack, you
can access the bag by popping a quick release and sliding the bag to your
front. This seems awkward but works very well with a bit of practice. An
excellent approach for longer walks around cities or short hikes where a
heavy shoulder bag can become uncomfortable.
