Bill,
glad I could make your day.
Unfortunately you didn't even bother to read my
original posting. I only asked for the "OT" in the
subject - nothing more, nothing less. With no word
I asked anybody to stop posting those kind messages
of condolence with respect to this horrible attack
and loss of life.
Of course your trollish post didn't exactly help your
cause either.
At times like these, people need to remain calm and
focused - life has to go on, and life always will
go on.
BTW, I don't mind being called a fool. In fact,
in the middle ages, the fools where the only persons
who could publicly speak (unpleasant) truth to the
king or person in power with risking to loose their
head.
The sad fact is, thousands and thousands of people
(even children!) in Africa and Asia die EVERY DAY
because of famine and/or disease - mostly unnoticed
by the "civilized world".
*SARCASM ON*
Do we discuss these "silent" victims each year at
all, and is the EOS mailing list the proper forum
for such a topic?
*SARCASM OFF*
I would like to invite everybody to read the EOS
Mailing List FAQ
http://members.home.net/jul.loke/faq.html,
and then think about it for a moment before posting
any new messages. You will notice that the subject
of this message contains "OT".
But back to the "off"-topic at hand. It is sad to
see that - due to the influence of mass media -
nowadays only the "spectacular" catastrophies get
due attention. And as fast as the media show up to
point their attention to the event, they quickly
move on, usually abandoning the people involved to
their individual fates.
This media overkill numbs the soul, and it makes me
worry about the morality of humanity.

Don't worry about it, you don't sound unpatriotic or insensitive,
you sound like a complete fool. Nice work! Your self-important pompous
whine has given me my first smile in days. Just when you think you've
seen or heard every idiotic thing in life, somebody like you pops up to
keep the streak alive. I mean, we wouldn't want to waste any of your
time, right? Not to mention that your squealing is going to generate
more messages than you originally cried about. Congrats...
(To everybody else, I'm sorry and EOT. To the many conveying wishes
of support or sympathy, thank you, your messages mean more than you
know. The US has been out on a limb alone so often, not to mention
plain *wrong* sometimes, it is good to know that we still have others
who wish us well in a difficult time. Again, thanks and EOT).
