         I suggest that you recalibrate your ECF several times, using
different lenses, light, positions, etc.  According to Canon USA
(regarding Elan IIE, NOT 7, although I doubt the advice would differ)
the camera continues to 'learn' your ECF each time you calibrate it.
(*Not* each time you use it- boy did we go over and over about this a
couple of years ago.)
        So pick up the box, flick it to 'cal', and redo it every now and
then, and I think you will find it will start obeying you better.  (To
'all'- I know the pluses and minuses about this, the possibilities why
it would and would not work- find the thread with Chuck Westfall- I just
looked over my hard drive and can't find it.)
