When I see this kind of business I reason this way:

Why would someone sell an EOS 3 for $499 when he can quite easily get
$700 (items "like new" sell like hot cakes on ebay)? Same goes for the
other stuff he's selling.
Does he like to loose money as an hobby? Did you check what articles he
bought and sold on ebay? Even with a long established reputation it's
never 100% certain. 3 months ago I bought a rewind knob for my Leica for
$35 from a guy with 400+ feedbacks (5 negatives). I thought that over
400 positive feedbacks would ensure the seller's seriousness. Stupid me,
I overlooked the negative feedback. I'm still waiting for the rewind
knob. He started not to answer my mails 2 months ago, but if I mail him
about an item he's currently selling, he'll answer me, since he doesn't
know who it is. I can only name this one way: Fraud! Since July he has
received further positive feedback and 2 negatives (one from me). What
puzzles me is why such a long time seller will ruin his reputation for
$35. Is there a lesson to be thought from all this? Perhaps, but I'll
leave that to your judgment.
This summer also, I saw someone selling an EOS 1V in very good condition
for the same price of a used EOS 3 in ebay France. The seller had 40+
feedback all positive. I was very tempted at the time to buy the camera,
but thought that maybe it was too good to be true, that maybe the
camera had some hidden malfunction that would reveal itself only from
time to time. Remember that once you leave a positive feedback, there is
no way to change that. Even if the gets broken (I'm thinking of those
EOS 5 mode dials which break in a very random way), he can refuse to
return your money and there is just no way to warn people of the fraud.
He'll be enjoying the positive feedback you left him earlier.

Regards

Hugo Lopes

P.S. The EOS 1V on ebay France got no bids...
