As long as the camera is not used (L-position or not), the battery-drain is marginal. 
The only thing drawing power from the battery is the LCD display on top of the camera. 
The power-drain is conciderably higher when (half-)pushing the shutter release, as 
this activates the lightmeter, CPU, lights up the viewfinder-info, activates the 
film-motor etc...
