Some kind of insanity has gripped me, and I'm now considering buying a digital SLR. Right now, I'm trying out an Olympus E-10, and I like it, but it a) sucks AA rechargeables like nobody's business and b) isn't compatible with microdrives. Since it's considerably more expensive, I didn't really consider the D30. But now, with Canon's rebate deal (free 1GB microdrive and spare battery), I'm tempted. Plus, I already have a handful of lenses for it.
I'd like to hear some general impressions from people who have the D30; things like: how long does the battery last? how do the prints look at 8x10? how is the metering? The E-10 is pretty nice, but its metering isn't quite as accurate as my Elan 7, and its autofocus is easily fooled by backlit subjects. I've read a lot of reviews across the 'net, but I figured I'd try to get some impressions from a little bit more knowledgeable and friendly crowd here. :) Thanks in advance!
