Hi Vesa,

The 90 second timeout is the power-saving standard for
Canon EZ and EX Speedlites.

When my 430EZ goes to sleep, pushing any camera button will
wake it up. The 550EX is similar, except, as you know, the
power switch has a separate position for ALWAYS ON and for
POWER SAVE. There is also a separate 60 minute timeout for
E-TTL slave which can be overridden by a custom function.

So, if the Sigma will timeout, how about using the Sigma
EF 500 Super as the master, and the 550EX as the slave?
