Nikon cameras don't actually match against 16000 (or whatever number) of 
actual scenes. If you read their brochures, what they actually say is that 
their *algorithms* were developed using XYZ number of scenes. But the 
actual algorithm in the end-user camera is a simple calculation, just like 
any other matrix metering system.

Good marketing of ordinary technology.
