I have the 28mm 1.8 and like the performance.  I use it on my Canon D30 as a
"normal" lens.  If you look on the Photodo website, the 28-135 IS zoom has a
better rating at the wide angle setting, than the 28mm f1.8 prime lens.  A
little while back I compared my prime lens at f3.5 to a friends 28-135mm IS
at the 28mm setting and also at f3.5.  The prime lens was much sharper and
contrastier my a very large margin.  Photodo numbers are a guide, but don't
always represent what you'll find in the real world.

Overall I can't say that it's really sharp wide open, but quite good stopped
down a few stops.  I also like the way this lens handles.
