Hi Ken,

To tell you the truth I don't know. I know it's hard to imagine me ever
saying these words but here it is, plain to see. I do have some ideas
though.

As to the film I used to use B&W ISO 100 film because it was slow enough
that I could leave the shutter open for a long time. The longer the shutter
is open the better chance you have of capturing the bright but very short
duration streaks. For weaker showers I used faster ISO 400 films to capture
the lower intensity streaks. This of course assumes that the camera is
pointed in the right direction.

In the olden days I used to use the guides that were frequently published in
astronomy magazines like Sky & Telescope, Astronomy etc. when these events
occurred. But they don't seem to be much help in recent years and the
information that was published is for films that have gone by the wayside
I'm afraid. BUT if you have a local library that keeps old magazines like
they do here in South Pasadena or at the larger library in Pasadena or Los
Angeles this old info may be of some value even with modern films.

There are also several on-line sources from the magazines and the local and
national astronomy clubs. There are also several astronomy web sites that
would have some info. Look for their web sites and dig around, I'm sure
that there is something to find as a starting point on one of them. Here is
a major source of astrophotography links: http://members.prestige.net/rickb/
If it's on the internet it's in here. Another good list of links is:
http://home.earthlink.net/~mcgermano/links.html these ought to get anyone
reading this a good start to find good info.

If anyone finds something pertaining to this subject for future use please
post it back here using this subject listing on the list. I'm sorry I don't
have more but I hope this helps.

Regards,

Chip Louie
