I own 24/2.8, 35/2, 50/1.8mkI, 100/2 and 200/2.8 Canon fixed focal length lenses but have never really tested the quality.
Anyhow, I feel they are very good but seldom use them wide open. In general, stopping down one stop makes wonders (with any lens). Some weeks ago I was louping one 35/2 slide at about f4 and it was very sharp and contrasty (in a positive way) indeed. Yes, I *have* used them wide open but haven't noticed anything special (except light fall-off in corners which gets worse when the max aperture increases and/or focal length gets shorter; I think 50 and 35 at least are not very good in *this* respect). But I'm very satisfied with these lenses and even if Canon prices here are very high I got some of the lenses quite cheap secondhand.
