I have used the D30 with my fully manual (M42 mount) russian 1000/10 successfully, even in conjunction with a M42 2x tele extender. The EF 2x doesn't work properly, as it doesn't "see" the MF mounted on it. The camera locks up when the shutter is released. The Canon 2x still can be used, but only very carefully. It works with MF lenses when not "fully mounted" (so that it is in the camera mount, but not "click"-secured).
