Unless you want the faster lens, support for EX flashes and somewhat better macro ability, consider the Canon S40, which has all the features (except as noted) in a very compact package - almost but not quite shirt pocket size. I don't like the menu interface on the G2; the S40/S30 mode dial is much faster operating, IMO.
