The 'deal' is buy a EOS-3 and get a 550ex, EF 1.4x-II or EF 2x-II free (there may be other items available, e.g. a 160mb flash card with a D30). The UK high-street price for a EOS-3 is 750ukp (Jessops) body only inclusive of VAT. A 550ex is about 250ukp, the converters around 300ukp each. Thus the effective cost of the EOS-3 is 450/500ukp which is pretty close to the cost of an EOS-30.
