That's where TTL/E-TTL/A-TTL flash comes in. The flash pumps in enough light to expose the scene properly. If the aperture doesn't blink, it indicates that proper exposure is possible even without a flash. | Question: If I want to control the background (between P mode and Av mode), meaning |that I am not satisfied with P mode settings nor with Av settings (too slooooow |shutter speed) and set the flash to E-TTL and camera to M mode, where selecting, let |say 1/30 @ f/8 (the exposure meter would indicate a terrible underexposure), will the |subject be properly exposed? Absolutely. I do it all the time. For indoor shooting, I use M mode, T=1/60 to 1/200s depending on the lens used, and A=f/4.5-8, and E-TTL flash. | Second curtain sync. We know that with E-ttl, the flash "should" fire preflash to |calculate the correct flash exposure. | If I set the camera to mode Av, and set such apperture value that the shutter speed |will be long enough for me to see whether the flash fires at the second curtain, the |flash fires two times (first curtain or preflash and second curtain) when set to |E-TTL and only on second curtain when set to M. | | Question: Is the first one preflash, not seen on the film and the second burst a |flash exposure on the second curtain or is it something else (compatibility issue |with body)? Yes, the first burst is the preflash. It will not affect the film since the film is not exposed during the preflash. * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
