Hello folks, long time since I posted on here but despite constraints of
time now that I'm not reading at someone else's expense I still read with
interest!

I'm running a 3, PB-E2 and 550EZ. Other than the slightly strange meter
readings on the 3 (well documented now, I believe; I have corrected it with
2/3 extra on the inbuilt meter but generally use an incident anyway)
everything has been fine in the 11 months I've had it.

A couple of weeks ago I was shooting with it after a short winter lay-off;
batteries were freshly charged NiMhs and all was well. Then in the evening,
in the middle of shooting on a tripod, it suddenly decided not to work, and
to flash up the 'bc' warning on the top panel.

A little shocked that the batteries had run out so inordinately fast, I
changed to the original grip and a 2CR5 which worked fine.

The following day I reattached the PB-E2, with fresh batteries (tested
briefly in my flashgun), and again the camera metered fine but locked up
when you tried to trip the shutter. Not having another PB or another body my
PB-E2 will fil, I cannot test completely, but as the camera works fine with
a 2CR5 it leads me to suspect the booster is at fault.

Any ideas as to what might have caused this so suddenly, what the problem
might be, and how I might be able to get it repaired the cheapest/fastest,
bearing in mind it's still in warranty (just)?

Lastly, I've managed to crack the back LCD panel on my 550EZ. It's only
really an irritation right now but has anyone ever had one changed and knows
the likely cost?

Many TIA

WBR

Tom Jones.
