I don't want to argue about what <obsolete> means, but a 3MP camera today will function just as well next week or next month or next year. It will no longer be state-of-the-art, but the release of newer better hardware will not mean the camera is suddenly incapable of capturing an image. The Pentium 133 my kid uses at home is just as fast as the day it was new.
