No, they're not exactly the same. Lens seems to be the same, but features
are different:
Casio - ISO 100, G2 - ISO 50-400,
Casio - 1 frame/1,6 sec., G2 - 2,5 frames/second
Casio - 9 focusing points, G2 - 3 points
Casio - panorama mode, G2 - none
Casio - TIFF, JPG formats, G2 - RAW, JPG
Casio - up to 100 BSM (best shot mode), G2 - 7 modes
Casio - 30 sec. movie, G2 - 30 or 120 sec. + sound
Casio - external flash connector, G2 - hot shoe for EOS EX Speedlites or
MR-14EX
Casio - AA batteries or Accus, G2 - BP-511 or BP-512 battery pack
Non compressed picture - Casio 11MB (TIFF), Canon 2,86MB (RAW)

I have Casio QV4000 and I'm quite satisfied.
