Hi All,

I know that this A2/A2e/5 Command dial issue has been
beaten to death but there seems to be some question as
to the fix. Some posters elsewhere have suggested
that Canon now has a metal(?) dial setup which "feels"
better than the original plastic based mechanicals for
the switchgear. Does any one know about this or is
this false info? Also according to this poster the A2
bodies made after 1999(?) are supposed to have
incorporated this. Is there any truth to this? (I
tried contacting this poster directly but he has not
responded.)

I have pre-1999 5 and A2 where the A2 is my backup but
despite the fact that I use the 5 much more, the A2
command dial feels very stiff and difficult to turn;
I'm afraid it might go at any time - probably when I
go to grab it after the 5 is out..... If the newer
metal design switchgear exists and is better I would
certainly be inclined to specify this fix over the
plastic version when/if I ever need it.

Perhaps if Chuck Westfall is reading this, he can give
us some insight too :) (I misplaced his email address
sometime ago but I remember it was at Compuserve)
