There has been some folklore to that effect. However, I have never seen anything about that documented by Canon. I have never seen a posting on any internet board by someone who got bad results that would indicate incompatibility of any sort between a given Canon-branded EX-series strobe and a late-model Canon camera body (Elan 7, EOS 3, EOS 1V). All I've heard is the folklore.
