Haunted by this e-mail from WJM (dated 07/07/2001) I proceeded to build
my very own reverse mount adaptor and I've been trying the 28-135
inversed on my EOS30.

I'm indeed impressed by the quality and flexibility of this macro zoom.
Actually It's *incredibly* flexible, allowing you to frame your subject
by adjusting the zoom and the internal focus altogether. My adaptor
introduces some distance between the front element and the lens sothat I
can't really focus to infinite as the original post states. On the other
hand I reach 3.5x magnification at the wide end, with generous 25mm of
working distance (actually, enough to fit my 550ex next to the subject,
that becomes a great softbox at these magnifications.

The only downside is that IS doesn't work. Actually, I should say that
it works "inversed" as well, since it magnifies the movements of the
camera, making the image jump like doing macro work on th back of a
truck crossing wild roads in the amazonia.

As soon as I make an image worth showing, I'll publish something to let
you see.

Kind regards,

Gerard.
