If you have the focussing ring on 1.5 metres (see the little window) but your focussing range switch is on the "3m-infinity" setting, the AF function on the lens will stop working and the lens will seem to have locked up. You can remedy the situation by flicking the switch to "1.5m-infinity", or manual turn the focussing ring to at least 3 metres on the little window. Hope this helps.
