Someone had asked about using a 25mm EF extention tube with the ir 28-135IS lens but I forgot who. Anyway, I tested my 28-135mm IS lens on an EOS-3 with first the 12mm EF ext tube and then the 25mm. With the 12mm the camera locked onto focus fairly easily. With the 25mm it hunted continuously unless there was a good amount of light. Hope this is what you were looking for.
