I think the problem is the switch inside the mount in the
camera body. You can find it at about 10 o'clock position
in the mount if you look carefully.

Whenever that switch is activated the camera seems to think
there MUST be a lens (with electronics) connected and if
communications to it fails camera decides to stop working.

If you can afford you could let someone remove small piece of
metal from the TC (so it won't touch the switch) and it
*should* work. But in that case that same TC *won't* work
with EF-lenses anymore.
