You should check on that. While that was the case with my (and yours, and
their) EOS50, the EOS30 lacks this switch. I was very surprised when my
modified extension tube, which worked good with the EOS50, prevented the EOS30
from firing. I discovered that isolating the contacts (with sticky tape for
example) restored the firing capabilities. That is by far a beter method than
phisically removing part of one of the 'wings' (or how you call it) on the
mount  that enables the manual lens, but disables the electronic communication.
(For TC's  and extension tubes, that's a real compromise)
