My wife bought an IX after using a Minolta MF camera for years. She's generally
satisfied with it, but realizes that she must use ISO 100 film (hard
to find) to even get close to the sharpness she was used to. She has made some very
nice photos using my 200/2.8L, which prompted the response from
a friend, "I thought you had one of those point and shoot APS cameras." The IX has
roughly the same features as the Elan II, without the ability to
do multiple exposures on the same frame or second curtain flash sync. It also does
not have the Quick Control Dial on the rear. If you still want
one, you should be able to find them dirt cheap used. In fact you may be able to find
one used with a 24-85 lens for less than what a lens would
cost new.
