==================================

Hi !
Up until I got into the Canon system I was a heavy-ish user of both a Nikon
F5 and F100, Both bodies were used with SB-28s, And can tell you that the
Nikon flash system is not as hot as some may say !
For instance if using the flash as the primary light source, One had to
remember to change the flash from MBFF to straight TTL flash, Otherwise you
became the proud owner of an exposure that was around 1 to 11/2 stops under
exposed !
Also, the fast flash sync mode (To allow flash sync at all speeds) was next
to useless as Nikon somehow thought manual metering for this mode would be a
great idea (which it wasn't !)(I am not going to explain why because it
would take too long and is hard-ish to understand, But suffice to say IT WAS
CRAP !)
Also, I found that Nikon's MBFF was simply not that good at fill flash, Many
of my exposures came out looking like the flash had obviously been used (way
too much flash !)

A few things I like that Canon give over Nikon include
FEL.
Wireless ETTL
Fast sync flash that works (without working loads of calculations out first)
FEB (On flash)
Custom functions
And the flash units foot is stronger (Many Nikon SB-28 have reportedly
broken at this place)
Flash ratio control (Controlled from unit on camera)
And many more !

The truth is, Nikon's flash is really no better than Canon's when used
correctly (But you get all those lovely toys with the Canon unit !!!)

Just a few comments from someone who has used both systems for a
considerable time !
