Well, I finally got my paws on a D60, thanks to a local shop. (I got one in 6 days once I put some money down!) I thought I'd share a couple of quick impressions after 4 days of owning it (all comparisons to the Elan 7, since that's the other EOS I've got):
-Comfortable grip--my pinky doesn't hang off the bottom of the grip like it does on the Elan 7 (without the battery pack). -Enough shutter and mirror noise to let you know the camera's working, but still very quiet. -The viewfinder is small and dark, and manual focus seems difficult. -AF performance is definitely inferior to the Elan 7. This would probably be a lot better if the central AF point was a cross-type sensor instead of a vertical one. -Even though it has a 35-zone meter like the Elan 7, the metering is much more quirky. Panning around a scene with mixed lighting makes the meter readings fluctuate wildly, unlike the Elan 7, which seemed to average the scene's lighting better. -It seems to be fully compatible with the Sigma EF-500 Super, as well as my Sigma 28/1.8 (the older version, which I had rechipped for the Elan 7). -Battery life seems excellent. -Image quality is great! Well, those are my notes for now...there's lots to say but I won't bore you all with any more details. ^_^ --Alex * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
