I recently purchased the MT24-EX macro flash unit. I use it with an EOS-3 and a variety of lenses. I also use the LEPP Deluxe dual flash bracket. (the two flash units making up the macro flash are detachable for those unfamiliar with the MT24-EX). The purpose of this posting is to state that this is one of the best purchases I have ever made of camera equipment. The flash profices full ETTL capability, it has a GN of 80 which makes it useful for portraits as well and macro work. With the LEPP bracket the flash units can be separated 2 feet or more and aimed any way you wish. For macro work it is like having a lighting studio mounted on the camera. Mormallhy to manage 2 flash units at least 2 and generally 3 pieces of equipment would be required in some combination to get 2 independent flashes working on the subject. With this setup I have everything in one hand(more or less)l I take a lot of pictures of butterflies, flowers, insects, small animals, etc. I find that this setup gives me the most creative control of lighting I am aware of in the macro environment..
