Hi Tom:

> I'm curious if anyone has used this lens and has any comments on it?

I've had the Sigma 180 f/3.5 EX Macro since December and think it's a very
good macro lens, especially for the money. It performs much like the Canon
180 in terms of rather slow focusing...but 19 inches or so to infinity at
180mms is a tough job for any lens.

I tried shorter macro lenses but settled on the 180mm as you can get some
nice tight shots and still leave some distance between you and the subject.
And the butterflies and other critters I occasionally shoot like their
space. Also, the older I get the more I realize that a prone position is
not all that fun. While it does pretty well doubling as a medium telephoto,
I learned that you don't want to use it for portraits; I put it on the D30
for the heck of it and got some shots of the wife and every freckle showed
up--she didn't think much of that.

The build of the lens is very good, solid construction, and it does work on
an Elan II, 1v and also a D30 so don't believe you'd have any compatibility
issues with your D60 or EOS 3.

Regards,

Gary Russell
