All this talk about close-up lenses made me wonder the following: Is it possible to fit a 58mm close-up lens on a 52mm lens (with a step-down ring, of course)? Since image quality degrades from centre to edge, fitting a wider close-up would eventually benefit edge sharpness (the edge of the close-up lens would be outside the circle of image)? Has somebody tried this? It might seem pretty weird. At least I've never heard of it. However, I just decided to ask.
