The 1:2 I feel is a major drawback for this lens. As soon as you get 1:2 you're going to want 1:1. Tom, you should seriously consider the Sigma 180/3.5. The prices has come down since I bought one. I did a review and it is a nice lens. I'm not saying it has better optiacal or build quality than the 180/2.8. I've never owned or used the 2.8 so I dont know which is better. But the the 3.5 if built well and has good optical quality. I paid nearly $800 for mine. Delta Int has them for about $540, (aughhhhhhhhhhhhh!), ;- ).
