I recently purchased a used EOS-1D. It is my recollection the camera was introduced about one year ago, Sept., 2001. The serial number of the body is 157xx. Inside the battery compartment on the back wall there appears to be a datecode OO0613 stamped in black ink. According to all my information this would translate to June, 2000. This seems way out of line. Is this stamp actually the body datecode? Anyone have any additional information? Is 157xx an early or late vintage? Thanks, John Lovda === Hi John, Are you sure the datecode is OO0613 and not OQ0613? This will translate the production code to June 2002. The difference between O and Q might be subtle and a bit hard to read. I know this since I just look at my new EF 16-35 L and at first though the datecode is Uoxxxx, and later found that it was UQxxxx.
