Agree, they should work. One thing to consider is battery power. I used to use a
1v without the PB-E2 grip with a 600IS and one regular battery was hardly enough
for one day shooting, it was no time that I went and bought a battery grip.

The other thing is if you will be shooting birds you will be yearning for the 2x
and autofocus, but that's a different issue.. 8-)
