Hmmm, I think we can do better than that...

The French text is from Chasseur d'Images, a French photo magazine.

The title is: New Products from Canon Approaching!

And the text reads as follows (I've only translated an extract):

You'll remember that last July, Chasseur d'Images reported persistent
rumours about new digital cameras from Canon, to be released in the autumn.
Well, they're almost here! Here's what we wrote in July:

"The latest game in Japan seems to be hiding information from the press for
as long as possible, so that no articles can be published until the product
hits the stores. Sales take priority. Of course, we do not agree with this
view of journalism and so we always refuse to attend presentations under
non-disclosure agreement where the only goal is to keep us quiet. At the
same time, we do our level best to to find out what is really going on and
to let you into the secret as soon as possible, while taking care to ensure
that no one confuses fact with rumour. For example, what exactly is going
on at Canon at the moment? Just like everywhere else, Canon is preparing
for Photokina (25th - 30th September), with its collection of new little
items (to fill in any gaps in the product line), plus the occasional bombshell.

[skipping down to the EOS content...]

But the most startling information, which is not supposed to be revealed
until September, is the new professional digital SLR which will be sold
alongside the EOS 1D, and which might be called the D120. It will have 12
Megapixels, achieved by joining together two 6-megapixel CMOS sensors,
which will give an image surface similar in size to the 24x36 (35mm)
format." (end of the quote from the July magazine).

Good news: we were not mistaken! [the article goes on to mention some other
items that Chasseur d'Images predicted in July, and which they say have now
materialised, including a new G3. Then they stop short of repeating the
rumour about the D120, and simply advice the reader to re-read what they
wrote in July (above).]

So I suppose that we can all continue to guess...
