Ah, maybe you are right... it's long time since I've used any of the 28-80
lenses... And I do agree that the 50 f/1.8 is actually a very good lens in
that sense. It's optically probably the simplest lens Canon has... so even
though it's cheap, it isn't that bad at all. So yes, I do agree that it's
much better than the consumer zooms with same focal length and same
aperture... but if you use it wide open (in low light situations) it would
not be that good. And well that kind the situation that I had in mind. But
perhaps it would still be better than the consumer zoom.
