I am using the MT-24EX with the Canon 180mm f3.5 macro. I find it gives excellent results. It is more powerful and versatile than the ringflash. Ratio control is excellent. I have been using it with one head as a main light and the other to light the background in outdoor insect shots and also using it to fire a 550EX for background lighting. Its about all you'd ever need for macro flash work.
