alex sell the filters any buy 72mm. the use of lens hood is very important
both for flare/contrast control and for protection. since you bought the
setup used. make sure the IS is working on the 28-135 since it is know for
it to go bad.

Subject: EOS Step-up ring for 28-135 USM IS

Hi.
Just became proud owner of EOS 3 and 28-135 USM IS. :-)

This lens has 72mm filter thread, but I used to 77mm, so all of my previous
(Minolta mount) lenses were standardized for 77mm size which resulted in all
the filter to be 77mm.
Now I would certainly prefer to be able to utilize the filters so consider
buying 72-77mm step up ring (in which case I will have to figure out 77mm
lens front cap).

Any experiences with 28-135 stepped up to 77mm this way ? Should I expect
some vignetting due to that when using regular Hoya Super HMC UV[0] filter
or Heliopan Polarizer ?

Regards,
Alex Z
