Hey Henry, great to see B&H representative in person on the List !
The answer on your question is yes, I do very appreciate the constant f/2.8
aperture and find it quite useful for portraiture. Besides of that,
investing in EOS-3 body I would certainly love to unleash his real AF
capabilities which can only be fully exploited by constant f/2.8 aperture.
I aware about the added weight and price tag (not to speak about IS
version), but I used to heavy gear and frankly never lamented about that.
OK, sweating a lot lugging it around, but man, the results speaking for
themselves.

The Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L EF USM is almost EXACTLY double the price of the
Canon 70-200mm f/4L EF (USM), for which you get ONLY one stop and an extra
1.3 lbs.  Do you REALLY need f/2.8 for portraiture? Just asking.
