Just run a "dry" exposure test on my recently acquired EOS-3 body.
Measured outdoors on open shade off the 18% gray card and then off it's
white (+2 stops) side.
Compared with Sekonic L508 meter and Minolta 800si.
Cameras where on A priority (Av of EOS-3), both set to ISO 100 (as well the
meter).
Measurements where in Spot metering mode.
Guess what ? My EOS-3 seems to underexpose 1/3 - 2/3 stops (in some
occasions the difference between the Sekonic and EOS-3 reached 1 stop !).
Body's ID is ON0409 which presumably means it is produced in 1999 (please
correct me if I'm wrong). I guess I run into the well known underexposure
issue inherent into early batches of EOS-3 bodies. This weekend I'll run
full film-based test on this issue in both Spot and Zone evaluative metering
modes to evaluate the problem. The body isn't covered by any warranty, of
course, but anyway I guess I should contact Canon authorized facility for
calibration/firmware upgrade.
BTW. Minolta in Spot metering produced very similar results to Sekonic and
in many case it was really spot-on. Well done, Minolta !

Any opinions ?

P.S. Mehrdad, are you there ? :-) Fell free to share proudly this info on
MML.

Regards,
Alex Z
