I'm contemplating installing the Ec-R New Laser Mate screen into my EOS-3 instead of current EOS-3 standard Ec-N one. I read in Hove EOS-3 book that the Ec-R is approx. 1 full stop brighter then the Ec-N which sounds a lot. (I found the EOS-3 finder with Ec-N to be noticeably dimmer then the viewfinder of Minolta 9 or 7 in their respective default configurations). However, the Ec-R lacks the AF area ellipse which I think is useful to determine the focusing area location over the subjects just viewing through the finder. Any experiences with this screen ? Is it really so much brighter then the default one ?
