Thomas, what I wrote was that they were only allowed 50 MPH.
Analogous to 2 lenses being set at F8. Yes, at F2.8 it would be like
one car going 120MPH and the other since it cannot go to F2.8
would stay at say 65MPH. But again, at 50MPH, no difference.

Not true. Mine runs at F3.5 from 28-50, then around 4.5 until 90mm.
So it certainly is not F5.6 over a large part of its range. Try it
and see for yourself.

Agreed, IS is a great feature and main reason I switched to Canon just a few

years back. As to your collection, I have some prime lenses that don't get
used
as often as they use to (135F2L, 35mmF2, 50mm F1.4) as my 28-135IS
has always bailed me out in most instances. The "Leica glow" was the
only thing I was really commenting on. Leica lenses were not great until
the late 50s. Guys like Henri Cartier Bresson used Leica bodies
with Zeiss Sonnar 50mm F1.5 in the 40s. Zeiss optice were far
superior at that time. Fact not fiction.
