Anyway, long story short, when I clicked on the "Finalize Order" button,
which couldn't have been more than FORTY-FIVE SECONDS after I first =
received
the EMAIL, I got a page that said "THERE ARE NO ITEMS IN YOUR CART. THE =
LENS
HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM YOUR CART BECAUSE IT IS NO LONGER IN STOCK."

I went back to the email message, clicked on the product page link, and =
sure
enough...out of stock.

Congratulations to the 60 or 70 of you who reacted a few seconds faster =
than
me. :-)

Ken,

Just picked up my 24-70 L from my local camera shop (here in PA)
last Friday. The owner of the store told me that he had ordered
twenty from Canon, but Canon only sent him one, so far anyway...
I wonder if B&H actually had 60 or 70 of them?

I haven't had much time to play with it, but I did shoot an Xmas
party with it on my D60 w/550ex Saturday night. The images look great.
I can't wait to get outdoors with it!

Hope you get one soon,
Jim
