I have this lens and the HSM is very similar to USM. It is as quiet and just as fast in my use of the lens. I think its a great alternative to the 17 or 16-35mm from Canon. > Will I be disappointed by this lens' performance or is the top of the line > Sigma equivalent to Canon "L" glass? Thanks for any and all help you can > provide. All the work I have done with this lens (not too much, but enough to know good/bad) has proven this lens to be a great low cost alternative to the canon glass. I personally cannot see a difference, but I have not gotten up close and personal to many of the negs/slides. Fair Winds and Following Seas, Branden R.
