I think Canon put their eggs is the APS basket with the Elph series. I distinctly recall that when the first Elph hit the market it received raves for appearance and compact size and Canon had a candid shot of Michael Douglas holding one which ran as a news shot, not an ad or product endorsement. I suppose they gave them out at some Hollywood affair.
