> I could not understand why Canon did not make the D60 at least as good as the Elan 7/7e in terms of features and functions.
I do own one and I agree with your assessment. The D60 takes great pictures but is a low-end SLR in all other respects when compared to...well, just about any contemporary SLR, either film or digital. For its steep price the D60 really should have been at the level of the EOS-3 in the first place. But then again: a) Canon had to get it to market quickly to keep up with the Joneses, and the D60 was just a minor tweak to the D30, b) they did (or soon will) manage to sell every single one they built, and for a rather hefty full price. When the next one (D80 or whatever) comes out for $600 to $800 more and people still buy it, it will only prove to Canon how well-conceived the D60 was. :-) I'm interested to see how fast the US$8000 1Ds sells. I suspect everybody's soon out-of-stock on that model too. --Ken S. * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
