Instead of buying a new lens can you rent one where you live? If your son
gets married in a church and you want to take pictures there be aware that
you might not be allowed to use a flash. Is the professional photographer
shooting with color film? If so I would shoot B&W. I think it's nice to have
some B&W pictures as well plus there are some good fast B&W films out there
(I don't have much experience with B&W so I can't give specific info).
Anyways, I think a flash would make more sense then the 85mm. This even more
so as you probably take mainly candit shots and the professional
photographer does most of the portrait. Also many profs won't allow you to
shoot portrait along with them or close to them anyways.
